Migration Guide

Migrate from Section Factory
to Section Store.

An honest read on whether the switch fits your store, what stays the same, what changes, the concrete migration path — and the case for staying put if that's actually the right call.

The honest case

Why move from Section Factory?

Section Factory and Section Store both ship native Shopify 2.0 section libraries — same architecture. The reason stores switch is usually one of three things: theme-token inheritance (Section Store sections inherit theme tokens by default; Section Factory varies by section), catalogue coverage (Section Store ships 50+ conversion-focused premium sections in a stable catalogue), or support model (Section Store is built + supported by an active Shopify Partner agency rather than a generic support queue). If any of those is your bottleneck, the switch is straightforward — same architecture, easy migration.

What stays the same

  • Your Shopify theme, products, collections, and cart flow are unchanged.
  • Your Shopify 2.0 theme editor workflow is identical — same architecture between both apps.
  • Your other Shopify Apps continue working without reconfiguration.
  • Your tracking + analytics carry over.

What changes

  • Sections inherit theme tokens by default — your brand palette stays consistent without per-section re-styling.
  • Catalogue size: 50+ premium conversion-focused sections curated by an agency that ships them on client stores.
  • Direct-from-the-team support — replies come from BrandUp Factory, not a generic ticket queue.
  • Section composition shifts slightly (different sections in the library) — minor design polish required.

Migration path

The concrete steps.

  1. 1

Install Section Store alongside Section Factory

Both apps coexist — no conflict. Free tier on Section Store for evaluation.

  2. 2

Audit your live Section Factory sections by page

Note which sections you actually use heavily — usually 6-10 per store, not 30+.

  3. 3

Rebuild those sections using Section Store equivalents

Most patterns (hero, FAQ, comparison, trust, before/after, customer stories) have direct Section Store counterparts.

  4. 4

Verify brand consistency: Section Store inherits theme tokens automatically

Where Section Factory needed brand-styling overrides, Section Store should match out of the box.

  5. 5

Retire Section Factory once all pages migrated and verified

Uninstall the app — no leftover artifacts in your theme.

When NOT to switch

If Section Factory has a specific section style or block you can't find in Section Store and you're already invested, the switching cost may outweigh the gain. Audit your section catalogue first — most stores find Section Store covers their use cases plus more, but verify before committing.
