What the app does
Directive (EU) 2024/825 has applied in every EU member state since 27 September 2026. It bans generic environmental claims without recognised excellent environmental performance, climate claims based on offsetting, self-made sustainability labels and vague future promises. These phrases sit in the texts every store publishes: product pages, collections, pages and blog posts.
Scan
Products, collections, pages and blog posts are checked against 55 rules. Every scan updates your green claims score and sorts what it finds into banned, needs evidence and hint, so you know where to start.
Fix
Each finding shows the excerpt, explains the rule in plain words with its legal basis and suggests wording you can back up. Pick a suggestion or write your own, then save it to Shopify. Nothing changes in your store until you click.
Evidence
Certificates, life-cycle assessments and test reports stay with the claims they support, for one item or the whole shop. When evidence expires, it no longer backs the claim and the next scan flags the wording again.
Monitoring
From StarterSave a product or collection and it is rescanned right away. A daily scan covers pages and blog articles, and a weekly digest tells you what changed, so new claims do not slip through after the first clean-up.
Storefront
From ProA general claim needs its explanation right next to it. Write it in the app, and the Claim explanation block shows it under the product description: which part, what share, which certificate, what was measured.
AI
From ProOn a finding, ask the AI to assess the sentence with your evidence in mind or to suggest new wording. The rule engine checks the result again before you see it. It only runs when you click, and only the flagged passage, its rule and your evidence notes are sent.
Reports & rules
From ProExport a PDF report of your findings and evidence for your team or your lawyer. Add your own terms as custom rules, and they are flagged like the built-in ones.
Seal
PremiumShow on your storefront that your environmental claims were checked. The seal is granted automatically while a complete scan is recent and no banned or needs-evidence findings are open, and withdrawn as soon as that changes. It is not a sustainability label, and the verification page says so.
How it works
Install the app and the first scan starts automatically. You choose the content types and languages, and the overview shows your score and every open finding.
Open a finding, read why it is flagged, then save a suggested or your own wording to Shopify. If the claim is true, add the evidence instead.
Turn on monitoring so changed texts are checked automatically, and add the Claim explanation block to your product pages.

No app can promise that. Green Claims Checker points out risky wording, explains the rule behind it and suggests alternatives. Whether a claim is substantiated for your product and market is your decision, ideally with your lawyer. Nothing on this page or in the app is legal advice.
The app runs in production and has been submitted to the Shopify App Store; the review is still pending. Until it is listed, write to info@brandupfactory.com for early access.
Titles, descriptions, SEO titles and descriptions, tags and summaries of products, collections, pages and blog articles. You choose the content types and the languages of your texts in the settings.
Never on its own. A new wording is only written to Shopify when you click Save to Shopify, and every change is kept in a revision history with undo.
Texts are checked in English, German, French, Spanish, Italian, Dutch, Portuguese, Polish, Swedish and Danish. The app itself is available in English, German, French, Spanish and Chinese.
From the rule set, with suggested wordings per rule written by us. From Pro, you can also ask for an AI assessment of the specific sentence with your evidence in mind, re-checked by the rule engine before you see it.
Only when you click on a finding: the flagged passage with its surrounding text, the rule, your evidence notes for that claim and your instruction. The AI features are part of Pro and Premium and do not run in the background.
No. The app reads store texts and does not access shoppers’ names, orders or addresses. It adds nothing to your storefront unless you place one of its theme blocks.
Your Shopify texts stay as they are. Text snapshots, findings and evidence are deleted 48 hours after uninstalling, unless you reinstall in the meantime.
